Saab: 93 900 saab S 2.1, oil dipstick, coolant tank

Question
On my 93  900, I replaced my clucth master. I am waiting for a new clutch slave hose  and would start the car every now and then just to let it run for a few.    Left it for a week, batter is dead, I guess. no lights, dash  nada.   I tried to jump it, lights come on etc etc, but engine wont turn.  the solnoid and starter were new 1 year ago.  all wireing clean.  I am not sure I am getting good power dudring the hum, just enough to light it up.

I notice a small black cable, that has 1 end  in the mounting bracket beneath the throttle cable. The white plactice piece where the cable come out. the Oil dipstick is also mounted to this bracket.  The wire is not very long, but wraps arounf the hose from my coolant tank, and has a U  shape.  So obviously it goes under a screw or bolt.   Being that it is wraped over and back under, it is not from the starter or solonoid.    When I removed the master to slave hose,  could that wire have gone there where the clucth hose was mounted? Toward the front of the car, and on the sidewall where the master slave hose is held by a bracket?
I have no idea what or where it goes, but it would fit right there.  Is it possible that it is some sort of ground?   again, it come out from the  bracket that holds the throttle cable, and on the otherside of this mount, is the poil dipstick.

Or, is it possible that the battery is just shot?   I tried to jump it, but no click, but dash light blinkers etc etc  come on. tomorrow the battery will be dead.

I will get a new battery, but it is this lose line that I have no idea where it goes.

When I last started the car about a week ago, there was no problem.   Today, no lights nothing, but cant get it to turn, so I am wondering what this small thin black wire is

Thank you

Barb:

I believe the small black wire is simply an extra ground, which means that the U-shaped end goes under any nearby body bolt. I doubt very much that it has anything to do with your problems.
What I do suggest, tho, is that you remove that battery and have it tested at some auto store(WalMarts, Autozone, Pep Boys, Parts America, etc). If it tests bad, then you have defined the problem, If not, then I suspect you have some switch or light"stuck on" somewhere which drains the battery when it is idle. To check this, first charge up the battery with a charger. Then disconnect either the positive or negative terminal, and wait a day or two. Reconnect the terminal and try starting the car; if it works, then you have an good battery, but with some light, etc left on. If NOT, then for sure, the battery is dead.
 Hope this helps,
