Saab: 1987 900S Exaust Manifold & Ignition Troubles, secor saab, saab dealer

Question
The gasket to my exhaust manifold has disappeared making my car sound like a go cart.  I purchased another gasket for it but the ends of the bolts are missing as well, leaving just a straight bolt.  How do i get these bolts out to replace the gasket?

Also, last night my key snapped off in the ignition of the car.  I hope I don't have to replace the ignition, but if I do how much would that cost?  And if I do manage to get  the broken part of the key out how do i get a new key?  I live in the New Orleans area and there are no Saab dealerships around.

Thanks,
Erik

Answer
Erik:
What I would do regarding your exhaust manifold is to remove it from the head (its fairly easy), hacksaw off the residue of the old stud, drill it out and use a  1/4-20 bolt, nut, and washer [grade 5 or better bolts] in its place.

Regarding the broken off key issue, a locksmith out to be able to 'fish out' the broken off part of the key. Once done, if you give the VIN Number to any authorized SAAB dealer, they can make you a duplicate key for your vehicle. I believe you could do this by mail, and for your info, the local SAAB dealer here in CT is SECOR SAAB at (860) 442-3232. They may be able to mail you a new key.

           Good luck,
