Saab: 1994 Saab 900s 2.3 not starting, crankshaft position sensor, 1994 saab 900s

Question
My saab seems to have been running fine...besides a noticeable drop in gas  mileage.  I was driving today and went to eat lunch, came back out and it would not start.  It would turn over but not "fire"  We have checked the spark- all there, fuel pump is kicking on, but the throttle body is dry. The fuel filter is only about 3 months old (about 4,000 miles)...is there something we can check or a few things...THANK YOU!!!

Erin:
Sorry for the delay; I actually 'penned' the reply, but somehow it did not get registered. Anyway, what I would now suggest is that you should check the action of the fuel injectors. You an do this by listening for the "clicks" when the engine is being cranked. Hopefully you'll be able to hear them over the background noise. You can do this by putting a long screwdriver or other solid object on the base of each injector and then to your ear...touching both ends firmly. It will act as a 'stethoscope'. If no clicking is heard, then you must investigate further...e. g., the crankshaft position sensor, and associated crcuitry
Hope this helps...................
