Saab: 91 saab turbo-fan switch, pipe thread sealant, plumbing supply

Question
Both my saab mechanic and I pretty sure my car needs a fan switch and I want to try replacing it myself because I think this could be a good 'first project' for me to work on my saab. It doesn't seem to require any specialty tools and is easy to access. Do you know where to get step-by-step instructions on making this repair? My mechanic gave me a few and it seems simple - am I wrong?

Answer
As I am not intimately familiar with the turbo models, I am making some assumptions regarding my answer. Please bear with me.
If, by fan switch, you mean the thermally-operated round screw-in plug in the upper part of the radiator, then all you need is a wrench or socket (around 28-30 mm or so) to unscrew the switch and replace it with the new one, after of course, relieving cooling system system by loosening the cap on the plastic reservoir, and disconnecting the wires from the switch housing. You should apply a pipe thread sealant to the threads of the new switch before installation.(this can be purchased at any plumbing supply place, including Home Depot, Lowes, etc.)
That is all there is!
 I hope this helps.
