Toyota: more HP from my tocoma 6cy engine, series muffler, air breather

Question
i have a 2004 tocoma, 4X4, 6cy, with 30K miles, love my truck, I was informed that if i put   a magnaflow 50 series muffler and a KN air breather kit on the truck that this would give my truck a deep throated sound with about 5 to 8 more HP to my engine.  can you tell me if this is feasible or will i hurt my engine by making these custom changes or will i have to make changes in my engine to make this work...looking for the throaty sound and a few more horsepower without any real expensive cost or radical changes....thanks for the input..bill

Answer
Hi,

You have to disconnect your battery in order to reset the ECU and let the engine run on your new parameters. Then when mounting the air intake kit, you have to work with the mafs sensor, and it's better not to have electricity to avoid damage.
