Toyota: Fuses on 97 Toyota Rav 4, toyota rav 4, electrical cables

Question
Hey Mr Forne,

I have a 1997 Toyota Rav 4 (2 door) and I am having a problem with the tail lights; the fuse blows whenever I turn on the lights.  Whenever I put a fuse in, the fuse automatically blows as soon as i turn on the lights.  Normally you need a #10 fuse, but i tried everything up to a #25 fuse, but they all blow as soon as I turn on the lights.... Do you have any suggestions or possible solutions?  If so, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Hans

Answer
Hello,

did you do something with the lights? It seems like there is an electrical problems, and the fuse blows to protect the lights...
Check all the electrical cables, and be sure that the power (positive cable) is not touching the chassis of the car, or the negative cable.
Check the battery, too!

Jack
