Toyota: 2002 toyota corolla and check engine light, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
i have a 2002 toyota corolla with 100k miles the check engine light just came on. what does this mean and how do i check to see wht the problem is

Answer
Hello

Check engine light is a carburation problem, when it turns on, it could mean that you could have some problems with:
a - Lambda sond
b - Catalysator
c - MAss air flow sensor (placed between air filter and butterfly valve
d - fuel, f.e. bad fuel without the right amount of octanes

Maybe it's only the MAFS (c) which is dirty..
You must have your car inspected with a toyota official tester, which reads infos on your ECU and could tell what is the problem.

Hope this helps!
