Volkswagen: 2000 VW jetta, vw jetta, vw passat

Question
I have a 2000 jetta I had it detailed and ever since then the check engine light was on. Someone unhooked the battery to get that to go off and it did but since then when its cold it wont Idle. What can I do???

Answer
Diana,
The proper procedure is to have the car OBD scanned.  This will pull the error code from the car's computer and tell you the reason the check engine light was coming on.  This will also allow proper reseting of the check engine light.  It is not a good idea to disconnect the battery with later model VWs without use of a "memory saver", this can cause other errors and set off the "immobilizer" circuits in some cases.  You can refer to this previous post if you want to DIY.
