Volkswagen: vw catalytic converter extension, converter extension, vw jetta

Just had my 1999 vw jetta catalytic converter replaced by MY mechanic and now find out that warranty was extended.Wondering now if vw will pay for this. Any ideas?? Thanks

 I would guess that VW will not warranty work outside of the dealership, or at least without authorization.  Doesn't hurt the ask.  The good news is you probably did not pay dealership prices, and most likely will never replace this again (assuming you buy a new car in the next 10 years.)
