Volkswagen: 2003 1.8T bora engine light question, emissions systems, costly trip

Question
I was being silly the other day coasting down all the downhills (in neutral engine running) on my way home from work to get the MPG display as high as i could. Unfortunately the engine light came on after a while. The car drives like theres nothing wrong with it but the light will not go out now im driving normally again. Is there anything i can do to extinguish the light without a costly trip to a VW dealer?

Answer
If it works like US emissions systems and there truly is not a problem, the light will go out by itself.  You could disconnect and reconnect the battery, but if the problem is still there, the light will come back.  You may also need to enter your radio security code and wait until the adaptive throttle control recalibrates.  You will also not be able to pass emissions tests as the readiness registers will also be cleared.
