Volkswagen: Electrical problem, fuse panel, battery connections

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1971 volks type 1 beetle, I just recently put my battery back in and now I don't have signals or power to my fuel gage or radio, what could be causing this problem?

Thank you
ANSWER: Hi William,

You may have just blown a fuse.  Check your fuse panel located under the dashboard.  This is an easy fix!

QUESTION: Ron I checked the fuses, and they all seem to be in order. I'm  just wondering if its a wire loose or off under the hood. I've looked but did not see anything loose, any other suggestions?

Answer
Hi William,

Next two things to try:

1) Remove the fuses and clean the contacts, make sure they are not dirty.

2) Go back and look at all the battery connections.  Make sure that a little ground wire didn't fall off, or a small positive wire. (you can tell by the color) -- when you replaced the battery.

It sounds like something simple..so try these two items out and let me know how you do.

Thanks,

Ron
