Volkswagen: 1971 Super Convertible, exact reproductions, proper alignment

Question
I am doing a complete restoration.I am having problems with door jamb alignment. The car flexes and we are unable to stiffen for proper alignment. We have re-enforced both side rails with 2 x 3 inch angle steel. Added supports under the body.
I have been told, second hand, of bolts that run from top to bottom inside the body in front of the door posts,on both sides, which can be adjusted. Do you know any more about this or can you direct me to more information

Answer
Hi Tim,
Happy New Year.

The easiest fix that I can recommend for this is to look at www.mamotorworks.com

They sell exact reproductions of those steel support runners for the convertibles.  For some reason, the pitch on them could never be easily corrected, by reenforcing.

Take a look and see what you think, it may save you a lot of headache.

As far as the door jamb clearance, I am not familiar with any door post bolts.  I just looked in my body manual, and did not seem to find any on a 71 convert.

The only thing I do know is that the door hinges are adjustable to a a degree.

Best of LUck,

Ron
