Volkswagen: Passat Air Conditioner, passat 4motion, clothes hanger

Question
Hi,

I have an '04 Passat 4Motion with a 1.8 Turbo. For several months my A/C has been dumping water into the passenger compartment (on the passenger-side). Sometimes I'll have up to two inches of water on the floor. I have had this car to the VW dealer three times. They have replaced the A/C clutch and the pollen filter casket. I still have the same problem.

Any ideas on what might be the problem? This has been very frustrating to say the least. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul Z.

Answer
Hi Paul,

There should be a rubber tube that drains the water out of the evaporator for the A/C.

It is located under the car by the passenger door and drains water out.

The easiest fix is to stick a clothes hanger or something similar to unclog it, and the water should come rushing out and drain on the road as it should.

Best of luck.
