Volkswagen: 1968 Bus, bus test, sandpaper

Question
I just bought this bus test drove it and i went to drive it home and got nothing no power at all!  It was running great. tried to jump it nothing no lights nothing after a few moments i jiggled the ignition a a faint alt light came on. i got a push poped the clutch and got it home. i switched battires (fully charged) to hope to get it all the way up my drive and got nothing agian no lights no nothing. im stuck i thought it was alternor but not sure. If you could help i would be thankfull

Hi Brian,

It just seems like the battery is poorly grounded.  Check the ground strap. (the - ) wire on the battery. (remove and clean it).


Do the same with the (+) wire.  This one leads to the starter underneath.  Just unscrew it (with the battery completely disconnected) and clean it really good with a wire brush or sandpaper.  Replace, and you should be just fine.
