Volkswagen: 78 Vert - Fuel Injection, mid america motorworks, vacuum hoses

Question
Currently have Bentley's and Muir manuals...

Just found this site and have read some of your posts regarding the FI systems in these vehicles. Mine is working mostly fine, and I want to keep it so, mostly curious as to where to get good FI parts, and what basic maintenance can be done to them. Thanks, and I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

Answer
Hi Brian,

Thanks for the fine wishes.  As far as the fuel injection maintenance, there are a couple things you can do:

1) Replace the fuel filter yearly. (under the gas tank)

2) Check all vacuum hoses for cracking and replace as necessary.

3) Periodically put fuel injection cleaner in the tank.

4) Replace air filter, yearly.

5) Change the #3 temperature sensor every 2 years.

Not too sure of the actual web address, but fuel injection parts can readily be found at:

Mid-America Motorworks

Thier pricing is fair.

Many happy years of driving.
