Chrysler Repair: fan switch, chrysler voyager, intake plenum

Question
I have a 2002 chrysler voyager 3.3 v6 the heater / ac fan only works on high also the drivers power window sometimes does not go up are these problems related? I had a mouse chew some other wires under the battery. I think I fixed all those wires.

Answer
Hi Jeff,
The blower operating on high only usually means that the resistor block that provides variable voltage levels for the fan to operate at other speeds is faulty. That unit is located under the hood, on the firewall's upper right corner (passenger side of the car, just below the hood opening). You will find a 5-wire plug (with only 4 wires, sort of trapezoidal in shape colored black) which you remove, then the item to which the plug is attached is held in place by two screws which when removed will allow you to pull the block out. The resistors are actually placed so as to be exposed to air intaken thru the grill under the windshield (the air intake plenum) so that they are always being cooled when in use. The common failure mode is for only the high speed fan to be available. I don't think either of your problems are related to wire damage under tha battery. The window may be due to a flakey switch contact which you might resolve with some contact cleaner sparyed on the backside of the switch.
