Volkswagen: Warning lights on 2002 Beetle, medium distances, obd ii code

Question
Last night 6/9/06 the following warning lights came on simultaneously the EPC; Anti Slip Regulation and the check engine light which the OBD II code P0102 came up on the reader. What does all this mean and can the car be driven safely for the next 10 days?

Thanks

Bill

Answer
Hi Bill,

The PO102 light, to my knowledge triggers the check engine light for one of the following reasons:

1) Your gas cap is not on tight, or the rubber seal on the cap is bad.

2) The oxygen sensor needs replacement.

3) The catalyic converter needs replacement

I am not too sure why the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) light would be triggered.  I would guess that it tripped with the check engine light.

Finally, I, personally would not worry about driving your  car safely short-to-medium distances for the next 10 days, provided you are getting it serviced afterwards.

I don't believe this is anything major.

Good Luck,

Ron
