Volkswagen: Leaking VW Golf GTi (3dr) 2001 (X reg), drain hoses, factory sunroof

Hi,

With the recent bad weather my Golf has developed a leak in the front passenger footwell and the source is proving difficult to find. The leak causes a puddle (litterally a puddle) to develop in the front passenger side footwell. Can you tell me the likely cause of a leak in this area. The problem needs solving before the mats in the car begin to rot.

I'd appreciate any advice on the possible causes and any remedies you can suggest.

Hi Sam,

Do you have the factory sunroof on your Golf?   If so, there are little drain hoses by the bottom front of the front doors that back up into the car if they are clogged.

If this is the case, check the top of your sunroof and clean out the little holes for the hoses, and repeat the process under the doors.
