Volkswagen: 911 engine, porsche 911, porsche 914

hey, ive got a 74 1300 beetle and i was wondering how much modification it would take to install a porsche 911 engine and a porsche gearbox. is there any easy way of doing it?
any help would be great, thanks.

Hi Andy,

Not too much information available about a 911 conversion.  However, there are some great resources available in putting a Porsche 914 (2.0 liter) engine into the beetles with relative ease.

These are the air-cooled engines that power the later buses, and they are really quick in a bug.

If you have the engine, the conversion itself is probably around $500.

This will most likely give you all the speed you want, probably more than a little bubble-shaped car with a modest suspension can handle.
