Volkswagen: The radio in my 2002 VW Jetta TDI, vw jetta, better business bureau

Question
I have the same problem you responded to another person. I called the dealer and they knew right away that it was the "antenna". It is a common problem he says. The AM is the first to go. The wires rust away. When the dealer recongnizes the problem right away and it is a common problem, what is the process for getting a product recall started?

Answer
Hi Richard,

My suggestion would be to send a letter to VW of America, and copy your State's local Better Business Bureau if you know that this is a common problem.

Most likely, if you state a valid concern clearly and concisely to VW, they will want to keep you as a happy customer and resolve the situation, hopefully by fixing the radio to your satisfaction.

Here is a second option:

Try the consumer affairs website and post your issue.  For your convenience, I grabbed the URL just for Jetta's.  Simply cut and the following into your browser and it will bring you there:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/vw_jetta.html

In addition, I have read most of the Jetta problems on the site, and have not seen anything about that particular radio issue.

VW is usually pretty good in keeping it's customers happy, and I have faith that they will help you out.  If you have no luck, please feel free to contact me again and I'll do my best to find more options.

Best of Luck Richard!
