Volkswagen: 1998 VW Golf chime, fuse panel, vw golf

What would cause a constant, but muted, Buzzer/Chime that will not stop unless I remove the key from the ignition, but at the same time the chime works properly when it is supposed to?

Hi Lori,

That buzzer / chime type 'song' should always be on when your key is in the ignition.  It is designed to remind you not to leave them in the ignition, esp. with your door open.

If it doesn't sound right or is bady 'muted' you can pick up a new one at VW.  It looks like a small black square box and plugs right into your fuse panel.
