Volkswagen: vw cabrio radio and alarm, vw cabrio, keys and locks

Question
Hello! I have a 2000 VW Cabrio GSL with automatic looks and alarm.  When I first bought the car my keys and locks had to be reset 2-4 times in year one.  They even gave me an extra key because they were unable to make the original keys work every time.  My locks stopped working consistently in Jan 2004.  The doors would unlock themselves.  The dealer charged me to take the door apart and reset the vacuum pump.  When I got the car back they told me that the problem had been fixed.  The same day I noticed that the drivers door was still not working.

All year I have had to lock my driver's side door mannually. (long way to dealer!)  Two weeks ago my keys stopped locking the doors.  Now in December they allege that my readio is shorting out my alarm and affecting my key operating the door.  By the way the radio works essentially but sometimes reads error on CD's when there is no error.

I think that there has been a problem with my keys, locks and possibly radio the whole time and that they have been unable to diagnosie it.  Has this happened to others.  I also know that they recalled the radio in Jetta but not Cabrio is it the same radio and should they not have extended the recall?

Answer
Gnerally if the recal affected your car, you would have been notified about it by VW headquaters as they are very up to date on their recals, the only problem I have ever incountered with this problem would be the main door mech. itself or the pump, never heard of the radio recal in all my time at the main dealer
