Volvo: 96 850 flashing arrow check engine light, crank sensor, rainstorm

Question
I bought my car at 133k for $3,000 two years ago and have since spent $3,000 replacing struts, brakes, crank sensor and gaskets. No "major" problems yet. The crank sensor (and gaskets)were replaced in January after the car lost power intermittently and was also unable to start. Coincidentally the car got soaked in a rainstorm and I left the lights on (running down the battery) just hours before the car lost power while driving. Garage said it was a faulty crank sensor. Since then, no problem, except one isolated incident when the car lost power for a few seconds on the highway. Last week, the Check Engine light came on along with the flashing arrow and again very little power. Am afraid to throw more money at car at this point. What is this likely to be? Car does about 60 miles a week if that so hardly over-worked?! Now at about 145k

Answer
Kelly,
Well the arrow and check engine light mean there is a fault in the trans and possibly the engine. If you can get me the Volvo codes that may help in telling what is wrong. So have the fault codes read, maybe the shop you go to can tell you what they feel is wrong, that way you can make up your mind if you want to repair or not. Get back to me with the codes.
