Volvo: VolvoS40 Radio reset, new radio, radios

I have the reset code for a 2000 S40 do I need to power everthing off like disconect the battery to reset it

Put the code in the radio and it should work. I have seen a few radios go bad and will not accept the code. In that case a new radio is needed. If the radio displays OFF turn on the key to position one the radio on and let it sit for two hours until the display says code, enter the code.
