Volvo: S70 brake problems, quality control unit, speed sensors

Question
Ray,
My wife has a 98 S70 Volvo with ABS lights on, at the same time this happened, the speedometer and cruise stopped working.  We have replaced all pads, rotors, and now an abs module.  The car is still doing the same thing - the front brakes are trying to lock up and/or stop the car.  It gets so bad that the car slows to a crawl and starts to shake.  Also, the speed sensors were cleaned on each wheel, and the caliper and pads show no sign of breakage or excessive wear.  We are at wits end, your help would sure be appreciated.

Answer
Howard,
Some testing is in order, however I feel that the ABS control unit that was installed is either the wrong one or is defective. Buy a quality control unit and make sure it is the right one. Some cars have traction control and that works through the same control unit. So you will need a control unit with or without TRACS.
