Volvo: Turbocharger/Boost Sensor A, volvo code, generic code

Question
Hi Ray, I have a 2000 S70.(love this car) The check engine light came on when the idle became rough and on a few occasions the engine would just jump to a higher RPM. I have a simple scanner and the only DTC listed is P0236 #11 Turbocharger/Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/ Performance. The basic manual I have doesn't cover too much about the Turbocharger. What should I fix or be looking for here?

Answer
Mark,
The "generic" code you have is not as clear as a manufactures code. So first read the code with a scanner that will give the Volvo code, that will be more specific. Off hand either a sensor in the system failed or maybe a broken or loose vacuum or pressure line/hose. I can not use the generic codes when working on the cars for that reason. At least the Volvo code will show you the conditions and of what sensor or part has set the code. When you get the code look it up in the fault code listing follow the procedures and see how that works.
When I look for that "P" code to cross it to a Volvo one it is not listed. When I look on another fault code list I get the same as your, but I do not know what that would mean in Volvo terms.
