Volvo: lack of performance, flame trap, genuine volvo

Question

Dear Ray,

I have a '95 850 N/A that I wrote about before. my problem is the car lacks performance.. engine and trans got replaced by the dealer.sensors all the electrical ones replaced.pcv oil trap came with the new long block and is clean also flame trap is new too plugs are original volvo plugs. distributor cap, rotor is new too.. ignition coil with power stage is also new too and all are genuine volvo parts. there are only 2 items which arent replaced in the car.. these are the ignition wires and the cat converter..

if the wires are bad or poor( I checked visually they seem fine) would this cause lack of accelaration and lack of power? also should replace my fuel injectors too? the engine is almost at thousand miles at the moment.I drive the car carefully and I dont race the car but it doesnt feel like a five cylinder car..

thanks

thanks

Answer
Mete,
So tough to say why you feel the vehicle is under powered. Plug wires mostly would cause mis-firing clogged injectors rough idle and poor performance, clogged cat converter poor performance. Stop spending money on this car if you want better performance, get something newer and  with better performance. 850 Non turbo cars are not that quick and do lack performance as compared to a turbo car.
What do the techs say about the power and performance that the car has as they drive it? Could you be over thinking this?
