Volvo: Brake Light failure, brake light switch, fuse box

Question
I have a 1989 GL 740 Volvo. 4D. I have the running lights and turn signal lights, but all 3 Brake lights are out. A friend told me that no electrical power is getting to the brake lights. All the bulbs are brand new. Im a college student, raised around cars, but never payed attention. Bad idea. How can I go about checking this? I can't find anything about a sensor by the brake pedal.

Answer
Chelsie,
Test at the brake light switch for power. If you have power there find the red bulb out relay and see if there power going into it and power then comong out on three wires to go to each brake light. I have seen many bulb out relays go bad. That relay is behind the fuses in the fuse box.
