Chrysler Repair: Disarming/removing 91 security system, power door locks, straight pins

Question
I have a 1991 Fifth Ave New yorker Mark Cross SE. Recently the alarm started going off. I reset the car by locking and unlocking the locks on both sides of the car. This did not work. I have had this happen before and I could always reset it by doing this. I also do not have the remote that came with it either. Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks,
Don

Answer
Hi Don,
To disarm the system, if neither front door lock will do it, there are a couple of wires at the plug of the anti-theft module that you pierce through the insulation with straight pins, then touch the  pins together once, and then separate them. That replicates lock/unlock of the doors.
To get to the module:
Remove center support cover. Disconnect glove box/ash receiver wiring connectors.
Remove the glove box/ash receiver by removing all the 11 screws around the opening and and remove it. You may want to remove the pad/silencer on the lower edge of the panel to drop the box down and out of the way.
Then look above the glove box opening and there is a crosspiece with possibly several modules on it. Remove the 3 screws on the bracket that attaches it to the instrument panel and lower it down for convenience. If there is a remote keyless module (2 black connectors)remove it so as to have access to two screws that hold the theft module to the bracket.   The theft module has a natural color plug with 21 pins. The black/light green wire on pin 1 and the dark green/orange wire on pin 8 are the ones you want to try the pin touch technique to. See if the light goes out.
Then see if it starts. If you get it started and WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING pull the plug out of the module, that will safely kill the system, if you want. Never pull the plug UNLESS the engine is running.
If you want to avoid the problem in the future (rather than pulling the plug for permanent removal) then never use the door key, remote, or the power door locks when you exit the car; rather secure the doors by means of the mechanical push-buttons which thus circumvents ever setting up the alarm system.
