Volvo: Volvo S70 keyless/alarm, volvo s70, question thanks

Question
QUESTION: Hi
I have a Volvo S70 98. I am wondering if you know or can tell me where to look about this keyless/Alarm system.
When I arm it the park lights flash once. The horn does not beep is this normal. (I have replace the alarm horn and it does activate when alarm is set off)
Now when I disarm the car the lights do not flash. I think they did at one time but stopped. Is there someway to program this or to check the circuit?
Thanks
Scott

ANSWER: Scott,
Hook up the VST Volvo System Tester go to the alarm area, go to the monitor page to see what the programming set up is. There is an area also to make some changes, try them and see if they work. You may need a PIN number that should have been provided to the owner. If not contact a dealer and see if they can help.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick response. I am pretty sure the VST is expensive. Can they be rented?
Is there a way to do the alarm without the VST?
Thanks
Scott

Answer
Scott,
Take the car to a shop that knows and works on the Volvo's they will have the proper tools to read codes and make tests. Ask your shop if they have the system testers and can work on the alarm. That way you are sure.
The only way to not use or get around the alarm is getting an aftermarket system installed.
