Volvo: volvo wont start, volvo 940gl, intake hoses

Question
Hi Ray,I have a 1992 volvo 940gl that's been sitting for 2 years in my driveway,I finally decided to turn it on,but she just cranks but does not turn on.I bought a brand new battery and added gas treatment to the fuel, also the car has close to a full tank,I also tried to start it by spraying air cleaner and throttle body but nothing, what should i check?

Answer
Luis,
Make sure that there is fuel pressure, 42 psi. Pull a plug and attach the wire lay it on the valve cover crank the engine and see if there is spark. Remove the throttle housing and clean it getting all the carbon deposits out. If you have the Bosch system make sure that the in tank pump also works. Replace the fuel and air filters. Drain all the gas you have and add fresh gas. Change the oil and filter. Remove the plugs and replace them add a couple squirts of oil to each cylinder and crank over the engine before installing the plugs that is to insure that there is oil on the cylinder walls and help wet the rings for compression. Visually inspect vacuum lines and intake hoses for cracks also any wires and or dirty connections.
