Volvo: how to turn off brake failure light, brake failure, brake proportioning valve

I recently replaced the master cylinder and brake pads on my 1989 240DL.  The car runs great but the"brake failure" light is still on.  How do I turn it off?

The failure problem must not be fixed. There is a unbalance in the braking system front to rear. Replace the brake proportioning valve. That is what regulates the amount of fluid pressure front to rear. Bleed the brakes and see how that works. Do not take any chances with the brakes use new parts and fluid, get them done right, think of safety first.
