Volvo: Volvo Cars, new camry, toyota camry

Question
I'm seriously considering buying a Volvo (maybe a S60) to replace my 1996 Toyota Camry.
I'm attracted to the car's safety features the most.
A friend said it'll be a waste of money 4 it will cost double the price of a brand new Camry.
He thinks the Camry is just as safe & reliable a car as the Volvo.  Plse advise.  Thanx.

Answer
Susanna,
As far as the safety goes I think that the Camry is equal in safety features. As for the options the Volvo might pull ahead. With the way things are in the economy the Camry is better at resale. Compare on line with edmunds.com that might help. Personally I would go for the Toyota. The new Volvo's don't stand up to the older ones.
