Volvo: 850 wagon possessed by the devil., volvo 850 turbo wagon, electrical portion

Question
I have 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon that decided it didn't want to start.

At first I thought it was a battery issue but all the lights (interior and exterior) were bright. The radio, however was off and the car would not start (though I could hear the starter relay clicking).

I verified that each circuit in the ignition harness was getting its 12 volts when it should and found that the alarm relay was cutting power to the two constant power wires, signifying the alarm may be tripped. I disconnected the battery for ten minutes in an attempt to reset the alarm to no avail.

After a few hours of tinkering and metering the radio came up out of no where asking me for the code. I entered the code and it came on, naturally making me curious if the car would start. Not only did it not start but once power came back to the accessory circuit the radio was asking me for a code again.

The only thing I can think of is that the battery is faulty and the system is tripping because the voltage drops too low from the starter. I'm not sure if that really makes sense, as it is just a guess. I am off to get the battery checked and hoping either you have some idea what is going on or the battery is the problem and I don't need an answer.

Thanks.

Answer
Jonathan,
There have been numerous problems with the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Try to move it back and forth to see if the power to the dash is affected. The positive battery cable crimp has also been know to stop or impede the flow of power. The battery ground wire maybe faulty. Do some testing and cleaning of power and grounds.
