Volvo: 2000 volvo s80, window door locks, electronic failures

Question
My car has multiple electronic failures. They are as follows: mirrors, drivers window, door locks(have to be done manually),
seat fold down button, trunk opener, visor lights, sun roof, interior lights (by sun roof switch), heated seats, clock and temp. display, and A/C(the blower works). I was told that these failures suggested that only half of the computer is working. I bought a used ECM. I have not tried to install  it yet because i am not sure if the ECM is the problem, and i did not know what the procedures for installation were. Am I on the right track? If not can you offer me any insight into the problems that I described.

Answer
Griff,
The S80's have had multable electrical problems and some are what is call the Central Electrical Module, upper elect. module, and rear elec. module. It is not that easy to diagnosis. You should read fault codes and make some tests to be sure what module is faulty. Now if you are looking at the module, some are quite a wiring job to install. When you begin disconnect the battery first, then begin the wire transfer. Now some of the replaceable units need to be programmed to the vehicle, and that may include a trip to the dealer or a shop that has the proper scan tool set up.
