Volvo: 1999 Volvo S80 ignition Switch, volvo s80, 1999 volvo s80

Question
Hello Ray,
Thank you for taking the time...Recently my key started turning freely in the cylinder lock the car ran fine once it started...I replaced the cylinder lock and now when I turn the key to the on position the lights on the instrument panel are dim when I try to start the car every thing goes off.
Went to Volvo dealer to buy a new switch and was told  the keys needed to be programed so I had their tech come over to program the keys after trying a couple of times he told me I had to have the car towed to the dealer and it would probably need a new ECU because he could not get his computer to communicate with the OBDII connector. I think its the switch shorting out, is there any place I can find   a wiring diagram so that I can double check I don't have any wires crossed or in the wrong position...do you think I crossed a wire & fried the ECU?
Thanks again for all your help.

Answer
Ved,
Well the ignition switch just simply plugs into the wire harness. Did some wires fall out or loosen at the switch? Now with most new parts on your car they need to be programmed to your vehicle. I would feel that by just plugging in an ignition switch that would not short out anything, but it will reqiure programming to work properly.
As for a wire diagram all the Volvo stuff is on the VIDA computer system at Volvo. Now some parts stores have All-Data or Mitchell that can look up some things, see if that may help. If not give me an e-mail or fax that I can send one too. Also tell me what diagram you will need.
