Volvo: speedometer, petrol guage and other not working, small screws, temperature gauge

I am having an intermittent problem with my volvo 850 GLE 1993, 20 valve 5 cylinder automatic. The speedo, odometer, petrol gauge, temperature gauge stop working intermittently, they will stay off over many trips then come on again, the srs light has also stayed on and also and the up arrow is flashing

Look for some loose ground wires under the dash. While it will not work shake and pull lightly on wire to test there connections.
Pull the cluster and make sure that the electrical connectors are all clean and tight. While the cluster is out take a screw driver and make sure all the small screws on the rear of the cluster are tight.
Look at the battery positive post and make sure that all the conncetors there are also in good condition. You could also try to locate a used cluster as a test unit and install it to run a test.
