Volvo: alarm going off when trying to start the car, 1995 volvo 960, volvo 960

I have a 1995 volvo 960.  When I unlock the drivers door, the trunk or passenger door the emergency lights start flashing and when I try to start the engine the alarm goes off and disables the engine.  The alarm goes off after a bit but the emergency lights keep flashing.  The battery is good and the remote battery is new.  none of the doors unlock when you open the drivers door and the remote will not work....help....

The most common problem with the alarm is the control unit. If possible have someone that is knowlegeable with the Volvo and have them look at the alarm. You might try to get the part number off the control unit and get a used one. Also look all over under the hood and make sure the wire anywhere/everywhere are not damaged.
