Volvo: SUSPECTED FUEL SYSTEMS PROBLEM, emission control system, idle control system malfunction

Question
Hi Ray, I've got a problem on my '98 T5 S70 (U.S model) that i suspect comes from the fuel system - the car shuts down intermitently from time to time. Sometimes, it starts up immediately, other times, it takes a while. Which unit in the fuel system if it's the culprit) could be the problem and how do i go about tracing it as I don't want to change parts that are in perfectly good order?

Also, I've read these codes (it's got CEL) from the car:

P0413 - Secondary Air injection System Valve, A circuit open.
P0108 - MAP/BARO circuit high input
P0505 - Idle control system malfunction
P0455 - EVAP Emission Control System leak (large)

and the fuel consumption is a bit on the high side.
what do you think here?

Answer
Nse,
The codes 413 and 455 are the secondary air system, they are emission related. Code 108 & 505 are more than likely some of the fault. However the generic codes you supply only tell part of the fault, you need the Volvo codes as they will give more information as to what is wrong. You can try alldata.com or Auto Zone parts store for some service tips, and they will give better descriptions on the faults. If you do not have the scanners and books available you may want to visit a shop that works on Volvo.
