Volvo: codes, volvo s80 t6, 1999 volvo s80 t6

Question
I have a 1999 volvo s80 T6 2.9 turbo. it has been having a rough idle for weeks but would never show the engine light finally the engine light came on and it gave a code po455 the guy and auto zone said the canister could be bad? ive read some others but not on this type of car so i dont know where to turn should i change the canister and where is it?

Answer
Marie,
My list said a leak in the emission system, that sounds like the tank leakage system, it will not hold the fumes from the fuel tank. They are leaking into the atmosphere, not being stored in the canister. Take the car to a shop that works on Volvo so they can use a scanner that reads the codes in Volvo's format. It will provide a better understanding of the fault. The tanks fumes must be stored to be reburnt later and not leak out. The power management system monitors this during a drive cycle, if it fails it will post a fault.
