Volvo: Antifreez in my oil, volvo s70 t5, oil dipstick

Question
I have a 1998 Volvo S70 T5 with 175,000 miles.
Recently, I noticed the oil dipstick comes out with a white mixture.
I am told is antifreeze.
The car runs great, it does not overheat, I get 27 miles/gallon in the highway, the turbo responds great as always. I feel I could get another 175,000 miles if it wasn't for this.
Is the Head gasket the first thing that should be changed?
Is there a way of testing to determine the exact cause?

Answer
Mario,
The white on the stick could also be condensation. Maybe the engine does not run long enough to heat up the oil and burn out the condensation. Now on the chance that it is anti freeze, the oil can be tested to see if it really is. If it is then yes maybe a head gasket is coming apart. If the car has an auto trans then also trans fluid could enter the cooling system. That would mean the cooler in the radiator for the trans fluid has failed and trans fluid / anti freeze are mixing. Have it tested so that you know if there is a big problem going on. A good shop will have a way to test the oil. I use Nelco Gly-Tek test kit. www.gly-tek.com
