Volvo: 1993 Volvo 240 Cold start injector, 1993 volvo 240, vacuum line

Question
Hi Ray,  When I turn the key to start my 240 if it does not start immediately, it floods.  Something is causing it to dump gas in while cranking.  I can't find the cold start injector.  The book says it is on the intake 'between run 1 and run 2'.  I found the temp sensor on the block.  Did they make some 93's with out a plysical Cold Start injector?  I would like to unplug the cold start injector before I get stranded somewhere.  BTW, mpg has dropped from 27 to 20.

Thanks,
LH

Answer
Leonard,
The 93 does not use a cold start injector. Check the fuel pressure. I have seen the pressure get stuck and over pressure. That will cause it to flood. Even possibly the pressure regulators diaphram has a hole and it leaking into the intake via the vacuum line. Fuel pressure should be 42 psi.
