Volvo: Checking engine codes 1992 Volvo 240, 1992 volvo 240, volvo 240

I have a 1992 Volvo 240 and need to know how to display the engine code.  My check engine light is on.

There is a blinker box under the hood left side. Key on insert the pigtail lead into position 2. Push down one second light will flash back fault codes 1-1-1 is with out fault. Do the same for position 6. Clear by reading codes and then hold button down for five seconds release, when light lights hold again for five seconds.
