Volvo: 89 740 gl cruise control, cluster center, center gold

Ray, i recentley added cruise control to my 89 740 gl. changed the switch on the column,(plugged in). added vaccum pump to fender well(plugged in). all linkage is hooked up. vaccum line comes off pump, splits and goes to diaphram at linkage ,and goes to brake switch ,which was added.checked wires where it plugs into pump, power is there when you turn the switch to on position.when i try to set the cruise, it doesn't work.  am i missing something?hope you can give me some ideas, thanks jim

On the back of the cluster there are two connections that "stand off" the rear of the cluster, is the speed pick up wire connected? These connectors are rear of the cluster center gold color and either one serves as speed pick up. Should be a yellow wire in the harness that is speed sensor wire for cruise.
