Volvo: alarm lock out, volvo s 70, shift lock

Question
I have a volvo s 70 1998. and i changed the battery today and when i reconnected the positive wire the key is stuck in the ignition and the alarm sounds and it will not start. what do i need to do to make it stop? there is no key fob wit ha button

Answer
TJ,
Battery disconnected using the shift lock button turn the key to off, shift the trans from park to one and back to park again. Try and remove the key. If that will not work you need a new ignition lock assembly. If the key works and can be removed, put the key in the door lock connect the battery and cycle the key to unlock, that should turn off the alarm. If sll that fails you need the help of a Volvo shop.
