Volvo: buying a used volvo, wheel drive car, wheel drive vehicles

Question
I am in the market to buy a used volvo, preferably a wagon with all wheel or
front wheel drive.  I am on a limited budget and am looking to spend at a
maximum 5k.  Are there any years and/or models that are better than others re:
repairs?

Answer
Jessica,
The year that the wagons and front wheel drive came out is the 94 850. Then in 98 the Cross Country came out as an all wheel drive car/wagon. The first years of the all wheel drive did have some problems, so I would look at 2000 and up for all wheel drive. Now very important, have the car inspected by some one/shop that knows the Volvo. They will know more about what to look for and give you an idea as to the cars condition. Now keep this in mind all front wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles will cost more to maintain and repair. That is just a matter of things that cost more and the level of difficulty of working on that car.
