Volvo: 2002 s60, wire connector, bolts

how to remove ignition switch. if i unplug the wire connector at the back of the switch will this affect anything?

Remove the covers over the switch. Look at the area where it bolts to the column, remove those bolts, pull the cable out by releasing the lock on the plastic end and that should be it. Unplugging the switch stops all flow of power to the starter and other accessories.
