Volvo: 1995 Volvo 960 Transmission and cruise control, 1995 volvo 960, transmission job

Question
I had a transmission job done recently. When I got back the car the cruise control, the transmission 'E', 'S' and 'W' mode switches were not functioning, although they worked fine before.  I also discovered that the transmission does not down-shift when descending an incline in 'drive' as it used to. Can you please advise what I should do to restore these functions?  THANK YOU

Simon

Answer
Simon,
Read the codes in the Trans and see if you get a 313, gear position sensor. Those sensors wear out and cause many problems. Check to make sure the electrical connectors on the Trans are all connected and tight. Erase any codes and drive the car see what happens. Look at the cruise bellows and see if it is hooked and the vacuum lines are in good shape. Also test the cruise switch at the brake pedal for good vacuum hold and proper adjustment.
