Volvo: volvo 850 sportswagon charging system problem, high beams, point answer

hey, I am having some trouble with my 94 850. I was driving it the other day and it was night time so i went to put my high beams on and when i did my car shut off. I started it back up with no problems but as soon as i got under way she quit again. I checked voltage on the alternator and it seems to be putting out enaugh voltage at 14.5v. I dont have the resources to do a load test on it at this time, and i want to save myself money by fixing the problem, and not having to bring it to my volvo guy. thank you for any help you can give me.

Without the testing tools it is hit and miss. It appears that the alt is charging. The battery maybe going bad. If the battery is bad sometimes they will cause problems like you are having. Sorry there is no short to the point answer, things need testing. Alts do go out on these cars, but the battery also causes many problems.
