Volvo: 2004 Volvo S60 catalyst, volvo s60, 2004 volvo s60

Question
Hi, my car failed to pass its first MOT because the catalytic converter bracket was broken. It could not be repaired and I have had a new converter fitted at a cost of £750. Is this a common fault. The car has covered 34,000 miles and is 3 days out of warranty. Any advice would help. I may argue it is a design fault and seek recompense from Volvo. Thanks again

Answer
John,
I have heard of some problems with the catalytic converter, but not sure if Volvo consider the fault as a "covered" item for repair. They might rule on that issue case by case. Ask the dealer for some good will, like paying for the part and you the labor.
